Le candidature ai Critics Choice Awards sono state annunciate oggi, dove la commedia drammatica multiverso di Daniels “ Everything Everywhere All at Once ” ha guidato la classifica con ben 14 candidature, incluso il miglior film. Tra i suoi enormi riscontri c’erano quattro menzioni per la recitazione per Michelle Yeoh come migliore attrice, Ke Huy Quan come attore non protagonista e Jamie Lee Curtis e Stephanie Hsu come attrice non protagonista. I Daniels hanno ricevuto doppi riconoscimenti per aver scritto e diretto il successo al botteghino di A24.

Nel conteggio delle nomination, la commedia drammatica multiverso è stata seguita da “The Fabelmans” di Steven Spielberg, che ha ottenuto 11 nomination, tra cui due attori non protagonisti per Paul Dano e Judd Hirsch.

Altri favoriti del gruppo sono stati “Babylon” di Damien Chazelle che ha raccolto 10 nomination e “The Banshees of Inisherin” che ne ha raggiunte nove .

Accanto a “Everything Everywhere” nella categoria dei migliori film ci sono “Avatar: The Way of Water”, “Babylon”, “The Banshees of Inisherin”, “Elvis”, “The Fabelmans”, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”, “RRR”, “Tár”, “Top Gun: Maverick” e “Women Talking”. Fatta eccezione per Joseph Kosinski per “Top Gun” e Rian Johnson per “Glass Onion”, gli altri nove registi sono tra i 10 candidati nella categoria miglior regista. Gina Prince-Bythewood per “The Woman King” è l’unica candidata.

Altre aggiunte stravaganti e rinfrescanti tra le nomination includono il tenero lavoro di Paul Mescal in “Aftersun” come miglior attore, Danielle Deadwyler che si riprende dopo un affronto ai Globes per il suo ruolo in “Till” e la brillante colonna sonora di Michael Giacchino che trova l’amore nella colonna sonora originale di “The Batman .”

Come precedentemente annunciato, Jeff Bridges riceverà il Critics Choice Lifetime Achievement Award durante la cerimonia di quest’anno. 

Per quanto riguarda la televisione, “Abbott Elementary” della ABC guida la carica con sei nomination , tra cui la migliore serie comica seguita da “Better Call Saul” della AMC con cinque.
