Senza troppo clamore, domenica sera la Hollywood Foreign Press Association ha annunciato i vincitori dei Golden Globes 2022 via Twitter, senza media presenti o celebrità che camminavano sul tappeto rosso, come negli anni passati.

The Power of the Dog (Netflix) ha vinto il premio come miglior film drammatico e West Side Story (20th Century/Disney) ha vinto come miglior musical o commedia. Jane Campion ha vinto il trofeo come miglior regista per aver diretto “Il potere del cane” e Kodi Smit-McPhee ha vinto il premio come miglior attore non protagonista per il western. La star di “West Side Story” Rachel Zegler è stata nominata migliore attrice in un musical o in una commedia, e la sua co-protagonista Ariana DeBose ha portato a casa il premio come attrice non protagonista.
Nicole Kidman (“Being the Ricardos”) ha vinto come miglior attrice in un film drammatico, mentre Will Smith (“King Richard”) ha conquistato l’attore. Andrew Garfield (“Tick, Tick … Boom!”) ha portato a casa il miglior attore in un musical o una commedia.
Per la TV, “Succession” ha vinto la migliore serie drammatica e “Hacks” ha vinto la migliore serie comica o musicale, entrambi della HBO. La star di “Succession” Jeremy Strong è stata nominata miglior attore in un film drammatico e la co-protagonista Sarah Snook è stata scelta come miglior attrice non protagonista. La star di “Hacks” Jean Smart ha ottenuto la migliore attrice in un musical o in una commedia. Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (“Pose”) ha vinto come miglior attrice in un film drammatico e Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”) ha portato a casa il miglior attore in un musical o una commedia.
L’HFPA è stata coinvolta in scandali dallo spettacolo del 2021, quando è stato rivelato che l’HFPA non aveva membri neri e ha partecipato a pratiche commerciali discutibili. La NBC si è ritirata dalla trasmissione televisiva per la cerimonia di quest’anno e da allora l’HFPA ha diversificato i suoi membri e rinnovato il suo statuto nel tentativo di salvare la faccia a Hollywood. La presidente dell’HFPA Helen Hoehne ha annunciato i candidati di quest’anno in un evento ridotto a dicembre, dove è stata affiancata da Snoop Dogg nella lettura delle nomination.
Al discorso di apertura durante la cerimonia sparsa di domenica, Hoehne ha detto: “Saremo espliciti su ciò che stiamo imparando e sfideremo gli altri a unirsi a noi con membri provenienti da più di 50 paesi. Abbiamo un posto unico nell’universo dei premi”. Oltre ad annunciare i vincitori del film e della TV, l’HFPA ha messo in mostra i suoi sforzi filantropici e ha messo in luce organizzazioni come St. Elmo Village, che offre alle persone un luogo in cui esplorare la propria creatività, e Get Lit, che usa la poesia per aumentare l’alfabetizzazione degli adolescenti.
In netto contrasto con gli anni tipici, c’erano solo una manciata di apparizioni di celebrità, inclusi video promozionali di Jamie Lee Curtis e Arnold Schwarzenegger sull’account Twitter dei Golden Globes. Solo alcuni dei vincitori della serata hanno riconosciuto i loro premi sui social media, tra cui Zegler, Rodriguez e l’account Twitter per il vincitore del miglior film d’animazione “Encanto”.
