La stagione dei premi prosegue con i Critics Choice Awards che onorano l’ultimo anno di televisione e film. La premiazione era originariamente prevista per l’inizio della stagione il 9 gennaio, ma è stata ritardata a causa di un aumento dei casi di Covid-19. Presentato da Taye Diggs e Nicole Byer , il gala è andato in onda domenica dal vivo su The CW e TBS.

In cima alla lista delle nomination della Broadcast Film Critics Association ci sono Belfast e West Side Story , ciascuna con 11 candidature. Dalla parte della Television Critics Association , Succession guida la carica con otto nomination.

Entro la fine della serata, The Power of the Dog aveva vinto quattro premi, tra cui Miglior film e Miglior regista per Jane Campion, e Ted Lasso ha quasi spazzato via le categorie della serie comica, vincendo la migliore serie comica per il secondo anno consecutivo.
